DIY Hidden Toy Storage

I love spending time with my son in our living room. There’s more than enough room for him to roll around, crawl, and play with his toys.
His toys never take up much room when he’s playing and when it’s time to clean up, we put his toys neatly in the corner of the living room.
Even though his toys are neatly put away, they’re very colorful and clashes with the color scheme in my living room.
I wanted something practical to store his toys away and that would work with the colors in my living room.
I visited my local thrift store to find a box to put his toys away. I found an old shoe storage and a shower curtain that matched perfectly with my living room.
The great thing is that they were on sale for half price and the total for both was almost $8.50.
Luckily, I have paint from a previous project that matched my living room.
After cleaning the box and sides, I painted the outside of the box.
I purchased a wood board from the store and had a piece cut to 18”x18”. Next I cut a piece of material from the shower curtain that was about 2” more than the wood.
Three of the sides were attached to the wood using a staple gun. I put stuffing through the remaining open side and used a staple gun to secure the last side.
This can be used as a seat.
To coordinate the toy box a little more with the living room, I painted a wood K.
After the K dried, I attached it to the side of the box with wood glue.
The box is now filled with his toys and it goes perfectly with my living room. My baby loves it, too!
love this, great idea and so crafty 🙂
Thank you so much, Melanie!
