Free Thanksgiving Printables for a Fun and Meaningful Celebration

Free Thanksgiving printables are an easy way to add a little more fun, gratitude, and togetherness to your Thanksgiving celebration without giving yourself one more complicated thing to plan. Thanksgiving is one of those holidays when I really enjoy slowing down and spending time with my family. Of course, there’s the food—and plenty of it—but what I enjoy most is simply having everyone together.

With all the cooking, cleaning, planning, and getting ready for guests, though, it’s easy to spend so much time preparing for Thanksgiving that we forget to actually enjoy it.

That’s why I wanted to put together something simple that families could use to make Thanksgiving a little more interactive and memorable. I created a free Thanksgiving printable pack with activities that can be used around the dinner table, while everyone is waiting for the food, or even later in the evening when you’re relaxing after eating way too much.

There’s nothing complicated to set up. Just print the pages you want to use, grab some scissors and pens, and enjoy them with your family.

Make Thanksgiving About More Than the Meal

I love a good Thanksgiving dinner, but when I think about the holidays I’ve enjoyed the most, the food usually isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.

It’s the time spent with family.

It’s sitting around talking long after everyone has finished eating. It’s laughing about things that happened years ago, hearing stories I’ve probably heard before, watching everyone go back for another plate, and just enjoying having people I care about in the same place.

Those are the moments I want my family to remember.

You don’t have to plan an entire day of Thanksgiving family activities to make the holiday meaningful. Sometimes the simplest traditions are the best ones. Asking everyone to share something they’re grateful for or putting a few conversation cards on the table can lead to some surprisingly good conversations.

That’s really the idea behind this printable pack. It gives you a few easy ways to connect without turning Thanksgiving into another event you have to carefully schedule.

What’s Included in the Free Thanksgiving Printable Pack?

I wanted these free Thanksgiving printables to include a mix of meaningful activities and fun ones, so there’s something for different ages and personalities.

Inside the printable pack, you’ll find:

  • Printable Thanksgiving place cards
  • “I Am Thankful For…” gratitude cards
  • Thanksgiving conversation starter cards
  • A Thanksgiving gratitude activity sheet
  • Thanksgiving Would You Rather cards
  • Thanksgiving leftovers labels

You definitely don’t have to use everything.

If your family would love the conversation cards but probably wouldn’t touch a gratitude worksheet, skip it. If you’re hosting a more formal dinner, print the place cards. If your family loves games and joking around, pull out the Would You Rather cards.

Use the pages that work for your Thanksgiving.

Set the Table With Printable Thanksgiving Place Cards

There’s something about place cards that makes a dinner table look like you put in a lot more effort—even when you really didn’t.

The printable Thanksgiving place cards in the pack give you an easy way to add a personal touch to your table. Simply print them, cut them out, and add your guests’ names.

For a larger Thanksgiving gathering, place cards can also make seating a little easier. You can decide where everyone will sit ahead of time instead of having that awkward moment when 15 people are standing around the table trying to figure it out.

You can also get the kids involved. Give them the blank place cards and let them write everyone’s names. It gives them a small job to do while dinner is being prepared and makes them part of setting up the celebration.

For the best results, I recommend printing the place cards on white cardstock so they’re sturdy enough to stand up on the table.

Start a Tradition With “I Am Thankful For…” Cards

Thanksgiving naturally gives us an opportunity to think about what we’re grateful for, but sometimes we get so busy that we never actually stop and say it.

The “I Am Thankful For…” cards are a simple Thanksgiving gratitude activity that everyone can participate in.

Put one at each place setting and ask everyone to write down something they’re thankful for. You can keep it completely casual. There are no rules about what someone has to write.

Someone might write about their family.

Someone else might be thankful for a new job or an opportunity they received during the year.

And somebody will probably write that they’re thankful for pie.

It all counts.

After dinner, anyone who wants to can read their card aloud.

You could also put the completed cards in a bowl and have someone read them anonymously while everyone guesses who wrote each one.

Another idea I really like is saving the cards.

Write the year on the back and put them away with your Thanksgiving decorations. Next Thanksgiving, pull them out before everyone fills out new ones. Over time, you’ll have a little collection showing what your family was thankful for from year to year.

That could become one of those simple Thanksgiving family traditions everyone looks forward to.

Get Everyone Talking With Thanksgiving Conversation Starters

One thing I appreciate about Thanksgiving is having time to actually sit and talk with my family.

But sometimes a little help getting the conversation going isn’t a bad thing—especially when you have different generations sitting around the same table.

That’s where the Thanksgiving conversation starters come in.

Instead of the usual questions about work or school, these cards encourage everyone to talk about memories, experiences, favorites, and things they appreciate.

You might ask:

What made you smile this year?

What family tradition do you never want to give up?

What is something you’re looking forward to?

What is one of your favorite family memories?

The answers can lead to completely different conversations.

You may even hear stories about your parents, grandparents, children, or other family members that you’ve never heard before.

Put the cards in a bowl and let everyone take turns choosing one, or simply scatter a few around the Thanksgiving table and see where the conversation goes.

Add Some Fun With Thanksgiving Would You Rather

Not every Thanksgiving activity needs to be meaningful and sentimental.

Sometimes you just want to laugh.

That’s why I wanted to include Thanksgiving Would You Rather cards in the printable pack.

Would you rather eat only Thanksgiving side dishes or only dessert?

Would you rather cook the entire Thanksgiving dinner or wash every dish afterward?

Would you rather eat Thanksgiving dinner at noon or at 8 p.m.?

There aren’t any right answers, which is exactly what makes these fun.

These are especially good if you have a mix of kids, teenagers, and adults because everyone can participate. You can use them at the dinner table, while waiting for dinner to finish cooking, or later when everyone is sitting around trying to decide whether they actually have room for dessert.

They’re also an easy Thanksgiving activity for families because you don’t need supplies, instructions, or a designated person to run the game.

Pick a card and answer.

A Simple Thanksgiving Gratitude Activity for Kids

I also wanted to include something younger family members could complete on their own.

The Thanksgiving gratitude activity sheet gives kids a few prompts to help them think beyond simply answering, “What are you thankful for?”

They can write about a person they’re thankful for, something that made them happy during the year, something they’ve learned, a favorite memory, or something they’re looking forward to.

It can be a quiet activity for kids to work on while Thanksgiving dinner is being prepared, but it can also start some good conversations.

And you might be surprised by their answers.

Sometimes children notice and appreciate things that adults don’t realize are important to them.

If you have older children or teenagers who want to fill one out too, let them. Gratitude doesn’t have an age limit.

Send Thanksgiving Leftovers Home Without the Mystery

If your family is anything like mine, Thanksgiving doesn’t end when dinner is over.

There are leftovers.

Lots of leftovers.

Some stay in the refrigerator, and some get divided up and sent home with family members.

A day or two later, somebody is staring at a container wondering, “When did we pack this?”

That’s why I included Thanksgiving leftovers labels in the printable pack.

You can write what’s inside the container and when it was packed before sending it home with your guests. It’s a small thing, but it makes dealing with all those Thanksgiving leftovers a little easier.

Keep a few labels and a pen near your containers so they’re ready when everyone starts making their take-home plates.

How to Print Your Free Thanksgiving Printables

The printable pack is designed for standard US Letter 8.5 x 11-inch paper, so you can print it at home.

When printing, select Actual Size or 100% in your printer settings rather than choosing an option that enlarges the page.

Regular printer paper works well for the full-page Thanksgiving activities. For the place cards, gratitude cards, conversation cards, and Would You Rather cards, I recommend using cardstock if you have it available. It makes the cards sturdier and easier to handle.

You can cut the individual cards using scissors or a paper cutter.

Most importantly, you don’t have to print the entire Thanksgiving printable pack.

If you only want the place cards, print those. If you’re having a casual family dinner and want the conversation cards and Would You Rather game, just print those pages.

Print what you’ll actually use.

I hope these free Thanksgiving printables give you a few easy ways to make your celebration a little more fun and meaningful.

Whether you’re hosting a house full of relatives or having a smaller Thanksgiving dinner with the people closest to you, you don’t need elaborate activities to make the day memorable.

Print a few conversation cards. Ask everyone what they’re thankful for. Laugh over some ridiculous Would You Rather questions. Save the gratitude cards to read again next year.

Most importantly, enjoy the people sitting around the table with you.

Because after the cooking is finished, the dishes are washed, and the leftovers are packed away, the time we spent together is the part of Thanksgiving I want my family to remember.

Make Thanksgiving Your Own

There’s no single right way to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Your table doesn’t have to look perfect. You don’t need matching decorations, an elaborate centerpiece, or a schedule full of activities.

Some families dress up. Some stay in comfortable clothes all day. Some eat early. Some eat late. Some watch football. Some play games. Some spend half the evening sitting around the kitchen table talking.

What matters is creating a Thanksgiving that feels right for your family.

For me, that means good food, plenty of laughter, and time with the people I love. If these printable Thanksgiving activities help your family slow down, talk a little more, laugh together, or start a new tradition, then print the pages you love and make them part of your celebration.

And don’t forget to save a little room for dessert.
