DIY Wire Tissue Holder
I’ve been holding on to this little project for a while. Since we’ve moved into our new house something has been bothering me. It may just be something that just gets on my nerves, but I bet it bothers some of you too. It irks my nerves when I run out of tissue and I have to go to another room just to get another roll. This has happened to me too many times and I always end up yelling to my husband to bring another roll. Now, I’ve learned to make sure there’s enough tissue in the bathroom before I become indisposed.
In our guest bathroom, there is no place to store extra rolls of tissue in the same area as the toilet. I can just imagine how embarrassed my guests will be when they realize they’re out of tissue and have to reach out of the toilet area into the area where the tissue is with their pants around their ankles. I don’t really even want to imagine it. I needed to solve this issue before it really became an issue. My diy wire tissue holder will solve this problem and will save my guests from embarrassment. Enjoy!
What You Need: Hardware Cloth (I used the ½” one because I didn’t want the squares to be too big), Wire Cutters, Needle Nose Pliers
Directions
Determine how wide you want the diameter of the holder by placing an extra large roll of tissue in the center of the wire.
Using the wire cutters, cut out the section of wire you need for the base of the holder. Make sure you leave prongs on the ends of the section.
Cut out a smaller section, just about 5” wide and a few inches shorter than the bigger section. This smaller section will make it easier for people to reach in to grab a new roll. Leave prongs on the end of this section, too.
Using the pliers, bend down the prongs.
Hook the prongs from the smaller section to the larger section. Use the pliers to bend in all of the prongs. You should have a swinging effect between the two sections.
Attach the other side of the smaller section to the larger section. You should end up with the body of the holder. Using the pliers, bend down any remaining prongs.
Using the wire cutters, cut out a square just slightly larger than the bottom of the holder. Bend prongs around the bottom of the holder. Cut off any excess hardware cloth. Add tissue.
This looks really cute and doesn’t sound too hard to make. I love the look of toilet paper holders. We could use one in our master bath.
It was easier to make than it looks! Thank for reading, Lisa!
This is something I never would have thought of. Great job!
Thank you, Jamie!
That is such a cute idea! I love how easy it is to make. So easy, I might even try it.
What a great idea. It is somewhat of a pain when I forget to bring an extra roll into my bathroom–and I have no storage space in there to hold anything!
I love this! It will be great for my bathroom. I’ve been trying to incorporate more of this wire style into my house! 😉
Great idea looks quite interesting. I need more storage this is a wonderful creative project.
What a modern and stylish thing to use for toilet paper so it doesn’t pile up and fall over in a cabinet. I may just be handy enough to make one myself!
There are so many DIY projects out there these days and it seems like they’re almost more trouble than they’re worth…except this one. Even I could do this simple project and that says a lot 😉 Thank you for the great share!
How creative. It’s so easy to do and you only have to spend for the wire. Great idea!
This looks really good. But I think with family who got little kids (like me), I will think twice in doing it because of safety measures.
Great idea. We used to have one in each of our bathrooms but somewhere they were misplaced. Easy fix though.
Wow!! I like the way you review it. This is very unique DIY tissue holder. I’d love to try this smart idea thanks!
That is totally creative, I hate having to bend over to get a new roll under the sink!
Love this! I hate going into the bathroom only to find there is no toilet paper left, and we keep ours in the closet, so it is such a chore. This is a great DIY!
I love how you solved that tissue issue! 😉 This looks easy enough for me to make and we actually do need one of these in the master bathroom.
